40 minutes in the outlands

After finally having enough storage space to hold all my items (except a few k burnt fish and 2k broken glass) I ventured out into the outlands wearing a cheap steel suit, steel axe and 10 mackerals.

Thirty minutes later I had walked around the whole of the outlands over ten times and not found anyone. If I had brought a fishing rod or pickaxe I could have done some work there while it was empty.

While typing in clan chat telling them that no one was in the outlands, I died!!

I'll probably do it again soon as losing a cheap armour suit and weapon is a small cost for the odd chance that you could kill someone and get some nice drops.

Staff update

Some updates are being made to chat and the syrnia forum which add tags to some of the moderators. While the reason for doing this now is unclear, popular belief is that it is to try and show that not every mod is a dw-hq member. Which may also explain why Manda (forum mod obviously if you look at the announcement forum) no longer wears the dw-hq/dw tag and also why Manda's forum avatar has changed from the dw-hq avatar that was there a short time ago.

So far ladyraven143 is the only mod to come out of the closet, although we can expect some more soon.

Invasion + Pirate Update

This was seen in the early hours of the morning. Does anyone know if this was just for fun or if a sea monster was about?

The pirate invasion was succesful in 3 of the 4 locations......well sort of. The stockhouse information board said that we had captured Mentan as there were 2 pirates left, but due to the fact those last 2 pirates were in combat at the time..we didnt actually capture. So no gold and no multiplying of pirates at Mentan.

Berian was fully succesful and I got this message from Syrnia as a result:

Arrr matey...
Here is your share of our loot at Berian:+766 gold.
For helping the pirates you got -42 fame.

Franir mines where the Roughnecks invaded was also succesful, but due to a known bug with Roughies, everyone recieved zero gold and fame.

New Weapon

There is a new weapon on the block, the pirates Falchion.

The Falchion is dropped by Roughnecks during an invasion and early reports suggest it has an aim/power of 14/14 and requires level 15 attack to use.

I will confirm these details and add a picture asap.

Invasion

The invasion is in progress, so it happened today after all ;-)

Pirate general Rudilyn has got 336 hours left to attack untill pirates mutiny.

We are currently attacking Franer Mines with Roughneck.
There are 363 left.and we got 58 minutes left until we capture.

We are currently attacking Berian with Keelhails pirate.
There are 324 left.and we got 26 minutes left until we capture.

We caputured Mentan with level 6 pirates but they did not multiply as the last 2 pirates were in combat. Aprently they only multiply if there are pirates left not in combat.

Pirate invasion disappointment

Since joining the pirates on Monday with some other players, we worked pretty hard to fill all of the pirate captains requests at the stockhouse, so hard in fact that all requests were filled by wednesday except for one brigantine. This brigantine was finished on Thursday.

Even so, we have not invaded yet. The reason? The pirate captain (Rudilyn) only wants to send an invasion when she is present to watch the whole duration of the invasion. Being as she works Monday to Friday, its pretty safe to say that most invasions will happen at the weekend, even if it is ready to send midweek/2 days after the last invasion.

For this reason I will not take part in any more invasions. I may stay on skull for a small time to bar fight and increase my combat xp though.

If anything I now know why non-pirates can wait so long for an invasion to happen. The last invasion on Monday was within hours of the time limit which would have caused a pirate mutiny and a change of Pirate leader.

The current mutiny time is as follows:

Pirate general Rudilyn has got 225 hours left to attack untill pirates mutiny.

The last few days

The Haloween party island was a nice change from the normal day to day life of syrnia. The last hour was manic with many players trying to trade skeleton parts, so much so that trade chat was moving so fast it was unreadable!

With quite a few players getting Koban masks and striped fish at the event, it will be interesting to see what happens to the prices of these items. It wouldnt suprise me if Koban masks go as low as 5k but no lower than that. In time the price will probably increase again.
