The pirate life

While the last invasion was on I grabbed a keg of rum and handed it over to the pirate recruiters at Xanso.

Upon arrival at skull I was imprisoned in Crabs nest jail for over 19 minutes due to the 220 fame I had aqquired. The recruiters didnt mention that to me when they took my rum! :)

The main thing I noticed on the island is that the timers for the skills are short. For example cutting wood in Bonewood.

Bonewood
There are 8 other players working here
55 second timer
And smelting ores:
You have 12 Iron bars, you have 5 Iron ore left.
Smithing level: 14 (11150 exp, 2196 for next level)
There are 0 other players working here.
33 second timer

There is a shop at hooks edge which has been setup by a player for you to steal from to get a 25 second travel time to Skulls nose at the other end of the island. Skull nose is where the pirates storehouse is located.

The more you contribute to the stockpile, the more money you make out of a succesful invasion. The good thing is that you can smith ores that someone else has put into the stockpile or cook donated fish using donated wood. This allows you to get xp in these areas without having to aqquire the raw materials. At the same time, the pirate life is about team work otherwise everything would fall apart.

Training the invading pirates is not as straight forward. First you need to have the right combat level to train them and secondly there needs to be enough resources in the stockpile to create/train them. From what I could tell, there have been issues with people over training certain type of pirates so as a result, some of the raw materials are not put into the stockpile straight away. If there are not enough iron bars in the pile for example, then pirates cannot be trained/created.

I threw all 17 iron bars the pile and trained a roughneck. At the bar you can choose to start a bar fight or recruit. Notice how the xp works out when training.

You trained 1 Roughneck !
You gained 8 experience in attack, defence, strength and health.
There are 0 other players working here.

Due to having a clannies corn crops growing in my farms, I only stayed for just over a day. I knew that you needed your own boat to leave Skull island, but I didn't know that it wasnt that simple!
At Crabs nest you get the following screen:
If you got your own boat you can try to escape the Pirate island...You will betray the pirates. They won't be happy with you....
Use your Sloop to escape to: Port Senyn
I tried to escape 4 times before I was succesfull. The first 3 times I was caught escaping.
A pirate spotted you trying to escape !
You are send to jail.
Locked up, you rogue ! You have been locked up in the Skulls nose jail.
Reason: Betraying the pirates.....You will need to wait untill you have paid for your crime.
Every time you get caught you spend 10 minutes (590 seconds) in the Skull nose jail. This means you have to walk all the way back to barnacle bay every time you attempt an escape!
Eventually I escaped and ended up with 25 seconds jail time in Sanfew due to having zero fame since I lost all my fame when joining the pirates.

Its Crabs Nest, not barnacle bay. :) Maybe thats why you kept getting caught.
