New coders petition

Wyks has created a petition thread asking for M2H to get more coders working on syrnia, so that regular updates are done and more ideas implemented.

Personally I think more coders for Syrnia is a good idea.

Syrnia has been in existence for over 3 years and started by M2H while in his late teens.  It is probably safe to say that his life has moved since then early days and also his priorities.  Which is why we see 4 or so updates a year, with M2H coding like mad for a few days per update.

Active coders would be able to fix bugs quicker and make changes more often.  Also a graphics person would be needed, as M2H has relied on his brother for these in the past.

Someone would still need to decide what should and shouldn't be coded, rather than just add every idea that is suggested!

Gnome Trowing

I unlocked the 4th game at the Elven casino a while back, though haven't really played it. But I found myself with an Extra 8300gp and figured I'd spend it at the casino :P

Gnome Trowing (Yes it's called that) is much like the Gnome Launching game but instead of aiming to hit a target, you try to trow your gnome between two Posts. The Two posts you need to land between are at 241m and 269m.



Each Game Costs 6chips, and for winning you gain 60 chips,

I haven't done a test on the Percentages yet, but the Ranges of trows is 1m to 299m inclusive.

At 00:01 Syrnia time on 25th December the 2008 Christmas celebrations will commence with the opening of Party Island. You can reach Port Party from Port Senyn, Crab Nest, Burning Beach or Eylsian docks, and this year you will be able to return to your originating port via Port Party. However, do make sure you return to your originating port before 23:59 as otherwise you will be returned to Port senyn or Crabs nest. This celebration will last 24 hours.

We don't like to disappoint so this year will involve the now firm favourates of chest opening competitions and invasions in addition to sitting on Santa's lap. A new "Dress your own Christmas Tree competition" has been created and to add some extra Christmas spice to the day we have introduced one or two new monsters. Who knows you might even find one or two new items!

Can we take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support during 2008 and wish you and your family a fun packed Christmas period!

New Syrnia greasemonkey script

Ciaran has released a new script for Syrnia which adds some great features similar to NebuneX's old script which stopped working after the update. Looking at the script it uses some of the code From NebuneX's script for the stats but the rest is all new code.

Click on player name in chat to enter whisper command
Click on chat number to change chat channel
Buttons to insert symbols into chat
Option to remove the send button (useful for those who don't use it)
Option to move the chat links (useful for those with small screen resolutions)
Option to make the chat input box larger
Button to start whisper with player

Click on clan tag to open DW-HQ.com clan window
Allows the forum/clan pages to be opened multiple times
Enhance stats page with bars and percentages
Quest links to DW-HQ guide
Mark voting pages that (may) give green gifts (in green and blue)

Message players directly from on DWHQ

It is worth installing this script just for the whisper features alone.

How to install it

This script will only work with Firefox and Opera I believe.

1. Download and install Greasemonkey

2. Go this this page and click the install button

3. Restart Firefox

(If you already have greasemonkey installed, then just do step 2. You may need to upgrade greasemonkey to the latest version if you are using firefox 3 though)

Stemosaurus Fight

The Stemosaurus is a cute CL 183 creature that lives in Arch cave 4.

Like all the dino's down in the caves, it only spawns from time to time. Today one spawned in front of me so naturally I chose to fight it.

My stats:
Armour (All gold) - 92
Weapon (Platina axe) - 70 Aim / 50 Power
Enchants - +12 Aim / + 6 Power

25 was the hardest I hit the Stemo. It's hardest hit on me was 42.

+aim and +power suits of armour

In the past there has been debates as to which is better, +power or +aim, so I set out to test them.

Aim suits add to your attack level and power suits add to your strength level.

In theory a power suit will increase your maximum hit and the aim suit will increase your chances of hitting higher. What I found was it depends on the creature you are fighting.

I am assuming that all creatures have similar stats to players, a strength, attack, defence and health level. The values the creature has and your own values determine what is best to use.


For instance, a dino (Waranerus, Honorus, Stemosaurus, Roodarus) has high defence levels, so to get a good hit on it you need a high attack level. As +aim suits increase your attack numbers, an aim suit is best to use here.

That is an example that works well for everyone as the dino's are so high level. For lower level creatures it all depends on your own levels.

I found with my combat levels, and using a Platina axe, it was better to use a +power suit for fighting grey bats than the aim kit. I got more one hit kills, which meant faster xp and less food usage.

I switched to using the platina 2 handed sword and the aim suit then became more effective, probably becouse the different in stats than the platina axe.

So to work out roughly what you should be using, I would say if the creature has a level that is a few levels below you or higher, use an aim suit. If the creature is quite a few levels below you, the power suit may be better.

Without knowing the exact combat stats of each creature, this is just a rough guide. Some creatures may be a low combat level yet have a high defence value (you are more likely to miss or hit them for a lower number), which means aim would be better. So testing suits for a few hours is still the best way to determine which is best for each creature.

Highscores

It has been a long time coming but Blackloter has finally taken the number 1 combat spot from Cradle.

Blackloter had been getting huge xp gains every week so him taking the top spot was never in doubt :)

Core had been climbing towards the top clan position for a while but was set back due to huge score increases from other clans when players left/joined the other clans. Now some members have left Core, they have taken the #1 spot by quite a lead.

Ore spawns and slot usage

Gold, Platina and Syriet ore will now randomly spawns in either Arch 4.5 or 4.4, instead of always spawning at 4.5

This change means that all high level miners have the chance of getting the spawned ore instead of just the highest level miner with the shortest mining time.

Also donators will now be able to see how many slots they have used and have spare in their houses under the stats pop up.

The new rules and public mods

Firstly, thanks for posting the info regarding the new rules Bantha :-)

Personally im not going to read through all the new rules as I would rather stick red hot pins into my eye, rules and copyright notices when installing software just dont make good reading!

A few items have been pointed out to me which I will comment on though.

Firstly, I think it was a good move to now allow clan members other than the clan leader to create a clan recruitment thread. Some clans have a member who's job it is for recruitment so this will now allow them to do their job in the forums too.

In the past I have created our clans recruitment thread, only to have it locked and Blackloter had to repost exactly the same thread, meaning we had 2 identical threads. Which sort of made the rule pointless as it created spam.

  • If you want to dispute your punishment, staff will recheck your punishment and make a final decision which cannot be disputed after the decision is made.
  • Once staff has made a decision on your punishment dispute its final, if you reply to the ticket after we have made the decision the ticket will be locked
While I understand the reasons for these two rules, I am not keen on them for the simple reason there is still one or two bad mods still modding and these rules protect them and their mistakes.

A few days before the new rules were announced, I already fell foul to having an old ticket locked after the mod had replied with wrong information. So its frustrating that they can now lock the tickets even though they are clearly in the wrong. The ticket was regarding Synia related urls where the mod continously tried to tell me that Syrnia related urls are links within the gameitself.

Syrnia related URLs are those which take you to a page within the game, although we have allowed links to the syrnia trailers.

Later the mod changed their story and said the site had to be mostly syrnia related for it to be posted. While the link I provided was 100% syrnia related, they know it was, it was obvious from the url, they still replied with all different stuff to cover their mistake and then locked the ticket.

In this case I know im 100% correct, they are 100% wrong yet they have locked the ticket rather than admit their mistake. This is just one case that shows how the above two rules can help the bad mods get away with mistakes.

The mods are now back in chat and public again after so many people requested that they return. Hopefully in future senior mods will not make decisions based on what one or two players want and consider the problems making such a mistake can cause. Mods and good judgement....maybe one day they can be paired together ;-)

As of 15:35 Syrnia time, there is a large Halloween gnome invasion at Burning beach.

Halloween 2008 is here! This day has brought Syrnia an unwanted visitor. The activities will begin at 00:00 Syrnia time on October 31st, and will last all day. Party island has not been opened, instead nearly all islands will be visited by this stranger (Kanzo and skull island too).

Today you'll be able to collect some nice items, of which 2 new and unique items.
Hint: Every 15 minutes the strangers location will be announced. Find her and annoy her. Make sure to be close to her when she decides to take off!

Elven casino - Launch-a-Gnome

The elven casino in Penteza has five games although some of them are locked until you have played the other games for a while. As I was in the area I had another go at unlocking the next game today.

I already had Creature intelligence research and the Lottery available so I used some casino chips I had got as drops in Exella plains and started to play the Creature research. This game had me clicking for ages before and the same happened again today, although I only clicked on the left choice of the two and won about 30 chips.

Eventually I unlocked Launch-a-Gnome. I'm not sure if it unlocks by winning x amount of times or just by playing numerous times.

It costs 3 chips to launch a gnome and it it hits the centre you win 147 chips. There is no skill involved, you just click the launch button and a random picture appears with an X where the land landed. I used 100 chips and did not win.

Halloween and party island

Just a reminder that Halloween is approaching and Party island is expected to open for the occasion.

Going by past events, Party island will be open at 00:00 on the 31st of this month. That's late Thursday night/Friday morning.

Currently there are no hints as to whether the event will be the same as last year although I expect it will be similar with a few additions ;)

Exrollia getting busy

Having spent time on Exrollia in the past fighting at Ketil and Mordor cave, I noticed tonight that its extremely busy.

Normally I see no one at Mordor cave except the odd time I see a lonely soul there alone. Tonight there were 6 players there including myself at that location.

So I headed to Ketil which normally has between 4 to 7 players there, although some are idling and not fighting. 14 people there tonight!

Instead of fighting I thought I would do some sloop fishing at Port Calviny for a change while there was so many players increasing the timers. 27 people at Port Calviny!! 14 of these are fishing so 138 second timer.

At this rate I think I would gain xp faster by smithing bronze items :D

More bug fixing

The following bugs have been fixed:


    The last few days we've fixed a huge amount of minor bugs and a few of the last serious bugs. We're almost able to say Syrnia that an averga players should not be able to experience any real bugs.

    Some of the bugs fixes:
    • OL/PvP refresh bugs
    • Groupfighting timer fixed
    • Last login timer improved
    • Rare auctionhouse bug fixed
    • Clean creation typo
    • A botcheck will no longer itnerrupt applying silk
    • Bronze bars fixed

    We've also added the option to click "fight all" when in a single fight, right from the beginning (instead of waiting).

Small Tweaks

M2H has been busy coding and has made a few small changes.

From Annoucements:


  • You can now buy multiple items more easily at NPC shops (Eully, Aunna etc.)
  • Speed experience information has been added to the moving screen (Only visible when actually gaining XP)
  • Items in shops are now ordered by type
  • You can now always return to shop search directly from a shops screen, if you got trading level >= 10.
  • Forum messages are no longer lost when forgetting to add a forum topic name.
  • You can now ignore up to 75 players if your donation level is >= 40
  • When a player joins or leaves a clan this is announced in clan chat.
Also changed but not mentioned is the fact you can choose to Fight all when fighting a creature which started with the Fight one more creature link.

The botcheck was causing some problems in the outlands where if it was due but being supressed until you left the outlands, which has also been fixed.

The text on bonus/failed crops has also been corrected.

Last week Blackloter gained 1 million xp which appears to be an all time Syrnian record.
The xp was all combat xp from fighting in Kaldra.

Pirates invade Dearn island

This morning the pirates invaded Dearn island.

The last invasion was only 4 days ago so the timing of this attack is unusual.


There is an Pirate invasion at Nabb Mines.
There is an Dread pirate invasion at Kinam.
There is an Keelhails pirate invasion at Port Dazar.
There is an Roughneck invasion at Deep Lemo woods.

I believe the pirates were successful at taking over the towns in all locations, which is the first time I remember this happening for a while. Congrats Pirates!!

As of the time of this post, all the pirates have been cleared except at Deep lemo woods where 500 Roughnecks are fighting to the death.

Small change to dino drops

In the past there was a 10% chance that dino's (Waranerus, Honurus, Stemosaurus and Roodarus) didn't drop anything when you killed them.

This has been changed and now they always have a drop.

Having fought stemo's before and got no drop after using quite a few thousand HP of food, this is an appreciated change.

Now the only raw deal is getting 2 dino meat as a drop for killing a roody! :D

Core moves into first place


Core overtook ohno yesterday to take the first place in the DW clans high score table.

Having gained the number one spot, Core gave it up straight away by inviting two new members, Jacobs and Genezen :)

The Roughies at Web haven were defeated before they could take over the town but the Keelhails at Webbed forest suceeded.

Bandits and pirates also invaded.

Worst combat change ever

This latest change has to be the worst yet. Another kick in the teeth to fighters.

We've fixed an issue that was used by some Syrnia fighters to gain more exp/h than other fighters by skipping the pause between two fights in "fight all"-mode.

For this we've also had to disable the "Fight all" link in the fighting screens.However, to ensure you gain about the same exp/h than before (or even more) the pause in between two "fight all" fights has been reduced from 10+crowding to just 10 seconds. This should remove about 8-15 seconds per fight.
Please do watch out with AFK fighting, as you might now be able to face more monsters than before in between two botchecks.

Nothing has changed regarding the "Fight one more" option.We have considered (and are still considering) other solutions to this problem. But it's quite hard as every solution has got a few downsides.

For players who choose to fight in locations with less fighters, its now pointless to do this as everyone will have the same gap between fights. We all lose the ability to click fight all monsters so fighters who used this option will get xp slower.

So after players having to get 2 million xp to wear their platina axe's again, you now have to do this much slower thanks to this update. So turn 3 weeks of work into 4!

This was probably a response to the fact that a player announced ahead of time when and where the pirates were invading.

Bug fixes and changes

A few more fixes and changes have been made, the most notable being the change to weapon stats.

  • Removed the instant farming fail on all crops, this was intended but caused a lot confusion because it was not properly documented. Instead of the instant fail, we've added the chance to find less crops than you tought to harvest, just like there already was the chance to find more crops. There will be no more instant fails.
  • Frozen players shops will be hidden from now on.
  • The silver medium shield armour has raised from 9 to 10, silver small shield has been raised from 7 to 9
  • Improved inactive account deletion.
  • Inactive accounts who ran a clan, will pass on clan leadership to a random clan member. If none found, the whole clan will be deleted.
  • Fixed whisper ignore: Ignored players whispers would still be shown in whisper history.
  • Fixed: Group fighting will not take other fighters into account that are at the same location, but fighting different monsters.
  • The OL payer display will now display as: TAG LEVEL NAME ATTACK HP instead of TAG LEVEL NAME ATTACK LEVEL HP
  • Weapon stats have been increased to make sure all smithable items are better than all the smithable items that require a lower smithing level (The same counts for the level to equip it, as its equal to the smtihing level). This mainly affected the daggers/short swords etc. Also especially Platina and Syriet.

Jailed for a week for a 3 month old message

Yup, you heard it right. Rather than fix the modding problems, these mods who are way too busy to actually mod seem to have time to go through all my old messages going back 3 months or more to find something very randon to mute/forumban/jail me for.

They didnt need to go through my messages to find this info becouse I said exactly the same in a ticket around the same time. Senior mods have the ability look at other players messages and from what I understand, routinely do so, which obviously has implications if you are in conflict with say a person or clan and they have a senior mod to spy on you ;)

The ticket was created becouse a player said shit in chat and got a 15 minute mute for it and another time got no mute at all. Wether the reason was becouse this player had donated the maximum amount or becouse certain mods knew him or his family, we will probably never know. Even the person involved agreed that he should have been muted and that the mods were being biased towards helping him.

So in the ticket the mods told me the lack of punishment fitted the crime, I replied that they were biased and to prove a point I said shit in world chat myself.

Now if they had muted me, it would have proved that they were inconsistent and biased. They couldnt have someone saying this so they didn't mute me. They let me get away with a breaking a rule just to hide the fact they act unfairly towards different players.

I advised the mods I was going to do this in the ticket (#10898 Profanity).

The reason for my muting was a quote from an old message saying the same thing as the ticket, which they have been free to read and have been reading as far back as 3 months ago. Just an excuse as I have exposed how they have rogue mods amongst them who are free to abuse people they dont like, that the senior mods back them up no matter how wrong they get things or abuse their powers, that they are biased towards friends and big donators, amonst many other problems.

The update and weapons problem

The last update which meant you could only equip certain types of armour and weapons depending on your level, was supposed to stop a lot of items being useless.

Forum posts pointed out that a platina dagger is less powerful than a gold axe as well as other inconsistencies. So some of these items are still useless.

fritsz has made a table showing the stats of many items which shows the problem clearly and also added some suggestions as to what the stats should be.

The mod list

Due to the forum mods mistakes, ignoring my tickets pointing out the mistakes and senior mods not reprimanding or sorting out the situation, I feel that further action needs to be taken.

As mods can and do ignore genuine tickets if it suits them, not correct their obvious mistakes, I am removing the curtain they hide behind and revealing who they are. Maybe some players who have been treated unfairly will recognise a name they have upset or something similar.

There may be a few recent changes to this list that I am not aware off, and I have intentionally left off a name or two... and please note that these mods do all different jobs, some only mod chat, some just forums and some can mod all areas.

Forum mod

Having seen lots of complaints recently about the forum mod, I have been on the receiving end of the idiot today.

First a thread was closed saying that it was a duplicate, which it was not. This mistake was pointed out but the forum mod decided to ignore the ticket explaining this yet was active on the forums. The post was re-posted (it broke no rules and was not a duplicate) and I was forum banned.

This mod has now opened a can of worms and expect to see a nice list of all their mistakes, biased decisions, helping their friends posts out etc ;)

    Dissapearing weapons and armour bug fixed

    Finally this bug has been figured out and fixed!!

    This bug has lost me a few +3 power enchanted gold armour items and others have lost expensive items such as platina axes, so its good to see this solved.

    • Fixed disappearing weapons & armour thanks to some moderators and montimus. You lost items when equipping an item that you already wore. This would also happen when trying to add "Bronze daggers" to your house and forgetting to click on "click here to add to house" (While wearing bronze dagger).

  • Fixed mainpage layout issue on Chrome & IE8
  • Changed critical hit range from 75%+ to 80%+
  • "Add an auction" text now shows you where to collect your items from expired items when your at your auction limit.
  • The CPAlead tool has been updated. If you now have any problems recieving your gifts, you can add a CPAlead support ticket. You need to use the "Problems? Click here" button which you can find at the offers page.
  • Timer have been reworked. They now count down to a certain time, instead of just substracting a second. This fixes problems on some PC's whose timers counted faster or slower than the server. For this change to take affect, everyone needs to refresh the game once. To reduce future hassles with updates like this, we also included something so that the game will automatically refresh if its required to reload when the game has been updating while playing.

      Critical hits change

      Criticals hits have been adjusted so that you only get one if your hit on a creature is 80% or more of your maximun hit.

      Before today it was at 75% or above.

      Part of the reason for this change was that you could have a large range of critical hits if you are wearing a +21 power suit for example. For higher level combat players this would be more obvious.

      Here are some example hits of mine which show that 8 different strength hits all count as critical:

      34 You struck and dealt 34 damage to the Grey bat. 0/20
      35 Critical hit: You struck and dealt 35 damage to the Grey bat. 0/20
      36 Critical hit: You struck and dealt 36 damage to the Grey bat. 0/20
      37 Critical hit: You struck and dealt 37 damage to the Grey bat. 0/20
      38 Critical hit: You struck and dealt 38 damage to the Black bat. 0/22
      43 Critical hit: You struck and dealt 43 damage to the Grey bat. 0/20

      Syriet axe and pickaxe stats

      The last update brought Syriet into the game and although it spawns rarely, enough has been mined to smith the first Syriet axe and pickaxe.

      The stats of the axe are: Aim 85 / Power 62

      The pickaxe stats are a bit crazy, as they are comparable to the Koban axe.

      Koban axe stats are: Aim: 40 / Power: 35

      Syriet pickaxe stats are: Aim: 32/ Power: 35

      Bug fixes since the update

      Detailed below is a list of bug fixes done since the last update. There are a few there that will affect most people, so make sure you read through the whole list ;)

      • Forum navigation links added to the bottom of the page
      • Fixed shop search owner names.
      • Users will no longer see chat 'bleeding', instead, bug reports will be send automatically.
      • If you logged in before 17:00 today, please refresh the game once, for some changes to take affect.

      • Striped red fish will now not show as cookable
      • Clan pages now have a title.
      • Pensax map movement links improved
      • Improved constructing texts (houses/shops)
      • Fixed ":[" smiley on the forums
      • Fixed (clan) forum ordering of sticky topics

      01-09-2008 Game updates: Chat, smithing and more

      Region chat

      The Region chat channel has been added. This channel will allow you to talk to, and hear from, players who are at the same island or cave.

      Login messages have also been moved to region chat.

      The new region chat should do the community well. You can now talk to players who got the same level range/interest as you, as they are at the same island/cave.

      The world chat has not been removed, but it has moved to channel 2. The chat channel ignore option has been reset because of all the changes, you will need to reselect the channels you want to ignore.

      Chat report

      A new link has been added next to the chatbar; Report.

      Using this link you can report unacceptable chat behavior. You simply need to enter one or multiple usernames, select one or more channels and add a description. Moderators can then use your report and take action where necessary. The report function has replaced chat tickets. Please note that we've chosen not to give feedback about reports. This saves us a lot of work (just imagine how much reports are sent
      when someone abuses world chat), but besides that you also do not have to worry
      about it any more.

      We hope that you'll notice that sending in chat reports does help, instead of receiving feedback about every single report. Adding the chat report function, and the region chat also changes the way that players experience moderators. Moderators will no longer talk in chat. This also means no more confirmations of mutes etc. are given in the chat. This could be nasty for some players when they cannot reply to players that are talking to them, but it's pretty safe to say that people who are muted deserve just that ;).

      Furthermore, the last moderation change is that players can notice if their tickets have been replied to by a senior moderator due to it being marked as such.

      Whisper

      You can now whisper players privately. You can do so by typing Joe@Hello there! in the chat input bar. This will send Hello There! to the player Joe. It does not matter what channel you've selected, as the @ sign will overrule the channel selection. The ignore function works on whisper, and do also note that the chat report function can be used against whisper abuse too.

      Some new options for donators

      Hide public login:

      You've got the option to enable and/or disable the public login message. There are three options: On, Disabled for region chat or Disabled for both region and clan chat.

      Double history chat lines:

      The chat history's chat lines double.

      Show yesterdays chat history:

      You can now view the last part of yesterdays chat history.

      Two of these options have been added in the higher donation range, but don't worry: We will be filling up the gaps, and always try to add more donation options for all
      donation levels.

      Farming

      We've added 11 new seeds, in the range level 53 to 100. Two of these have been added to Aloria, and some of the new seeds have also been added as monster drops.

      However, lacking proper forests, and monsters not all seeds are truly in-game yet.. We will be adding the seeds where possible.

      Smithing

      The smiting tables always were pretty inconsistent. Because of this, and other changes in this update, we have changed the smithing tables.

      The following table now counts for all metals (bronze,iron...syriet). You only need
      to add the base metal's level.

      Because the items have been moved around, experience has too. Looking at
      the tables, it doesn't look like experience has changed much for smithers. If we
      somehow notice it has affected smithing (experience wise) we will consider the
      feedback and balance it where necessary.

      Weapon and armour level requirements:

      Until now, most of the smithed items were useless. Level requirements have been added on every single smithable item.

      These level requirements are the same as the smithing requirements.

      Reasons to add it:

      • Motivation and more reasons for every level up
      • The smithing items all have use now
      • More trade
      • The rare sets (such as Elven) have more use too, but do not rule out smithed items.
      • Also, because we wanted this change, it needed to be added now, at introduction of Syriet.

      We realize there is one reason to complain for some players: You are not able to wear some items, that you were previously able to wear. This means it could be possible you are now 'weaker' than you would have been before this change.

      This problem only really affect players that are level 10,25,40,55,70 or a few levels higher, as higher level players will be able to wear almost or exactly the same as before. Luckily, the above problem doesn't count for all players. However we've tried to reduce/eliminate the problem.

      1. This is a 'temporary' solution for the complaint. You can keep wearing any items you were wearing before the update (even if they would now be a too high level for you to equip).

      2. More sets will be added, such as at least two arena sets (that can be gotten by exchanging arena medals). Sets like these are of course rare, but will allow equal or
      better stats than before on the same levels. About the arena sets: We expect to add these in one of the very next game updates.

      3. The most important fix for this complaint is that we've raised a lot of the items stats, according to their level. E.g. a plate now requires a higher level to wear, but also has more armour. A lot of the weapons and armour have raised stats, so that they should be close to, or better than before.We have tried to combat this one and only complaint against this level requirement change. However, we hope that there are plenty of players that not only look at their own player, but also at whats good
      for the game itself. In the end that's what we had to do too.

      Changes to other level requirements:

      Finally, we felt it was necessary to change the level requirements on the following three item/sets:

      Valera sword: 5 ( was 1)

      Ogre: 10 ( was 1)

      Lizard: 20 (was 1, and 25 for hatchet)

      Syriet (ore) in game !

      Syriet ore has been added to the game, this allows smithing the best available items at the moment. Syriet ore has been spotted in the Arch. Caves. Syriet smelting is now also possible. It is not sure if the Syriet ore will exhaust in the future, and if the smelting conditions will stay as favorable in Arch. Cave 4. (We want to be able to give it a better spot if required ;) ).The platina ore respawn amount has increased at the Arch caves.

      Some other changes:
      Fighting:

      A Critical hit message will appear if you hit very high for your doing, taking the weapon into account. In other words; The critital hit message will appear if you hit
      close to your maximum hit thats possible with your weapon. This has changed
      nothing to the actual damage done and received.


      Warning for everyone who links to Syrnia: All links that used to end with .m2h have been renamed to .php.


      A rare inventory display bug has been fixed


      Fixed the :( forum smiley that disappeared after an edit.


      Changing your avatar will now also change all old (clan) forum posts


      New username restrictions (only a-Z 0-9, spaces and �_� allowed in your username)


      The Platina, and Gold hatchet smithing level has been fixed (was level 2)


      Based on feedback: Soft spider silk, and Hardened spider silk drops are a bit more rare


      The tutorial no longer allows camping.


      New players only see the help channel, they can see and use the other channels after completing the tutorial.


      All tutorial locations now use the map to move on.


      A lockpicking and cooking work images have been added.

      Feedback

      While we have thought a lot about balancing/changes, it might still be possible we need to tweak some things that we've missed. So it could be possible we adjust some of the changes a bit later, we will be also watching your positive feedback about the changes.

      Updates possibly tomorrow

      M2h has posted that the August updates may happen tomorrow, 1st September, subject to tests.

      Two month ago the news page suggested that Syriet would finally be introduced and also items that could be purchased with battle arena medals.

      There is no idea as to if any other updates will be done as well as these, but we can probably expect a few bug fixes to be announced too.

      Clan changes

      Although I try not to mention clans on the blog, there are a few recent changes which may be interesting to some.

      Core has gained TheKeeperofTime and stimpius which has pushed them up to 2nd place in the dw clan score page.

      Zen have lost Saturna, joebag and MADitude.

      ~S~ have taken onboard two former Pub members, escaflowne82 and grumpy.

      Although M2H may just be having fun out there in the outlands, it is probably safe to assume that he is testing coding updates or trying to replicate bugs so that they can be identified and fixed.

      Another mod out in the open

      Whilst this mod claims he publicly announced a month ago that he was a mod, it seems no one knew becouse he only announced it in pirate chat.

      To come: More updates and clearer rules

      The rules are being re-written to make them clearer and so that everyone understands them. It will be interesting to see what differences there are. I often wonder how many people read a long list of rules. Its a bit like when you install a program and you click you agree to the licence agreement, that you havn't read ;)

      With the stockhouse recently fixed, we know there is coding being done on Syrnia. So we can expect a few updates, which I presume will include the release of Syriet amongst others things.

      Something to look forward to in the near future!

      3 hours of mod breaking the rules

      Today a mod (KeNn) continously broke the rules in world chat, foreign languages, trading in world chat, posting many non syrnian urls etc. Yes it was reported, no nothing was done about it. Even though one of the urls causes tons of popups which means you have to kill your broswer in task manager.

      Great example from a mod as to how others should act....

      Mods silence Poj shocker

      Yep, its official, the mods are trying to silence me. I am no longer allowed to advertise this site in syrnia (was muted for advertising a non syrnian url, rofl), so you are all going to have to do dodgy back street trading of the syrnia corner url in future :-p

      Now I'm ready to be jailed and give up the game completely if a moderator is going to tell me I can't talk about them. That's just ridiculous. Many are complaining about the same modding issues that I have brought up, so it would be better for them to sort the problems out than to silence their critics. Theres way too many critics to silence for a start. All these people want is to improve the chat and stop all the crap modding mistakes and mods helping friends out regarding mutes etc.

      If the mods want to silence me becouse of previous posts here, then it shows you that they don't like the truth to be known.

      Pirates stockhouse bug fixed

      I am reliably informed that the stockhouse bug the pirates have had for the last month or so has now been fixed.

      This means that pirates can now add to the stockhouse again, which means that we should start seeing pirate invasions again soon!!

      Ignore list and private messages

      Although it has not been announced anywhere, I am reliably told that as of a few weeks ago, adding someone to your ignore list will also stop you receiving private messages from them in the game.

      Currently it is not clear if you still receive thief messages from players on your ignore list.

      The moderators story

      Some of you will find this interesting, some of you will already know, some of you won't care. For the latter of you, stop reading now ;)

      In the past there were calls of unfair and biased modding, as there still is today. Back then people who complained that most of the mods were from the DW clan were called conspiracy nuts and laughed at. Since then, its pretty much common knnowledge that the conspiracy nuts were correct!

      If people had known this at the time, there would have been riots as people would have understood certain decisions by senior mods, one of which was/still is DW-Spindoc.

      So, what the mods did not want to you to know, was these DW members were all mods, and there was only a couple of non-dw mods:

      Calgor
      Abu
      KeNn
      Muat
      manda
      SaucyWhopper
      Spindoc
      Dave_Clarke
      Theodor

      There are suggestions there was another DW mod but as it has never been confirmed so will not be mentioned.

      Now it wouldnt have been a problem with a single clan being moderators if the modding was fair. But anyone who spoke bad about DW were muted/jailed and harassed by the mods. The DW mods could close any thread they wanted that said anything bad about them too.

      With Spindoc being a senior mod, DW always had one of their own guys handling the complaints. So when many people complained about the "Hail DW" greeting, nothing was done becouse DW were the mods. So you can start to see how the modding was corrupt.

      But then the mods had to allow TL to use their "carp diem" greeting, to stop people complaining that DW had a greeting, and also so they could say that another clan uses a clan greeting (protecting their hails). Even though the carp diem broke the foreign language rule. The decision to allow this was made by senior mods, of which spindoc is one. To protect their hails they even allowed me to greet my own clan in Japanese (although I was muted once for it, mod mistake), and changed the rules accordingly.

      Due to the many complaints about the bad modding, finally some new mods have been chosen which are from different clans. Unfortunately it seems they don't have the experiance of the older mods and thus are muting people for stupid reasons. We are told by senior mods that they are new and will make mistakes, we just have to live by their bad mute decisions while they are trained. I don't see how 'common sense' can be taught to someone though.....

      Even with the new mods there have been proved cases of people being let of with stuff becouse of who they know, yet people who argue with a mods clan member gets muted. Threads pointing out mods mistakes get deleted. The mods way of dealing with people who point out their mistakes is to silence them.

      Not many old DW members are still mods, we have new mods, yet the problems remain. Is this a case of power corrupts, the rules are wrong, a senior mod need replacing (personally I think LadyRaven does a good job most of the time, so should stay), or both the rules and mods need scrapping and start again from scratch?

      We couldn't trust the mods before, and it seems we can't now.

      As to the original point, the people who disbelieved the conspiracy nuts were wrong. Even now some people side with the mods, when they don't have a clue whats going on. Some people genuinly don't care. Some have egg on their face. Life continues....

      This is just a random post with some random info. I will post specific occasions of modding corruption with proof, inside mod information they don't want you to know, and other titbits of information between other more light hearted news articles ;)
