From the Announcements forum:
"Up to this time the game rules had only been enforced as rough guidelines for behavior, which is what had been M2H's wish from the beginning of Syrnia. Inappropriate language and behavior was loosely enforced, and most players never had issue with this and chat remained a friendly and civilized place to hang out and spend time with Syrnian friends.
Due to recent events over the last few months, with repeated incidents of players intentionally testing the limits of the individual mods tolerances to inappropriate behavior and inappropriate language, It has been decided that these allowances will no longer be given.
Any adult, inappropriate, or lewd behavior including innuendo will no longer be permitted or tolerated. Profanity or cursing will be given zero tolerance as well. ( These rules enforced to whatever degree Moderator deems appropriate.)"
Whilst profanity is a good reason to mute someone, it seems you wont be able to sneeze without getting muted soon......
Are you happy that chat will be enforced with less discretion? Do you not think its a good idea? Whatever you opinion on the subject, feel free to share it here.

This new rule is BS. People got muted for saying words they used to use in chat for the past months/years. Suddenly they apply a new rule and start muting people without any warning of the new rules. Some mods can't even answer questions properly, they just say: send a ticket. That's just being lazy & ignorant. They even treathened a player (who was discussing this rule and the muting in a polite way) with a mute. I think some of the mods are gonna mis-use their Mod powers.
While I can understand the "new" rules, I feel that the way they were put into effect was handled poorly.
They should of been posted, announced and some sort of mass message sent out.
How are people to know something that was acceptable the day before (or even minutes before) is no longer acceptable if they are not given due warning?
And yes, I know that I was a repeat offender...and for that I apologize, but come on now...use a little more tact next time.
I hope you dont mind me quoting from your blog Pj, but I thought this shows how mods give certain members preferential treatment.

15 minute mute for saying 'shit', when he should know better anyway. And dw wonder why players get pissed off players like TIW say they are above the law in syrnia......
I have been pissed all along that /some/ people are allowed far more leeway while others get warned or muted as swift as can be. Honest Injun, I don't mind a deserved mute. And God knows I see alot of iffy things that even I feel should not be passed by. If the game is all ages, then words like Ass and Hell shouldn't be here. On the other side, if that is allowed call it PG-13. Goodness, even tv ratings for prime time allow some simple cursing. I myself enjoy the much older audience in Syrnia and if it descends to anime and cartoons 24/7 I will not stay long. I think there's room for both crowds as long as a little respect is given.
That being said, let me bring up the things that will set me off. Favoratism. Hypocrits. Vague guidelines.
Make it in bold red letters when you sign up that no vulgarities will be allowed. OR..that it is PG-13 and some light forms of adult humor and explicit words are allowed. Can it be that hard to stop straddling the fence and just pick a side? *shakes a fist* Like Nike says..Just do it!
Well, I am still muted for the next 515579 minutes on the forum, so I guess I will state my opinion on this subject here.
I have never been muted or banned in any online game before a week ago when the mods thought I was rude on the forum and deserved to be banned for a year for it even though most first offense bans on the forum are less than a day. Did I use any profanity? No. Not a single word. So, next time you all complain about being muted for "shit" or something for a couple hours, just remember that you can also be banned from the forum for a YEAR for not using "shit".
By the way, before anyone says it, I did not get banned for what I used to say in "I died" threads. I got banned for "highly inappropriate remarks towards a player that was pregnant". Although, I still don't see how suggesting she call her child 410338673 is highly inappropriate and rude... I've heard of a parent calling their child @. Calling a child 410338673 is just as "inappropriate" as what she was going to name it anyways, in my opinion.
As for the whether profanity should be allowed debate, I think if you allow it, it will become less of a problem. A lot of the people I see coming in to Syrnia to swear are just doing it because they know it's against the rules. If it wasn't against the rules and it didn't get the 2-3 people who play with sticks up their asses all riled up and report even the tiniest swear word, then the people would stop coming here to swear. All they are looking for are a reaction. If they stopped getting a reaction, they would get bored and leave, and we could have civilized conversation while still knowing that we have the freedom of speech.
Now we heard people complaining that kids play these games and they should not hear this kind of language. Well, that problem can be easily solved. Their parents can say that if they want to play Syrnia, they should do it with the chat disabled. Or we can just not let any kids play. For example, the registration could force you to provide a valid credit card number before it let's you into the game.
Even saying that you will mute for any swear word is impossible. Because there are definitely words that can be swear words in other languages but aren't in English. For example, take the word "root". In Australian slang, it means f***. So, should all plant/gardening discussions we muted now that we know when someone says "I hate these roots" they might actually be swearing? That is just silly, but definitely shows a flaw in the Mods' plan.
