As well as the screen saying a Python attacked him while fighting a Lizard, the screenshot shows that he had to knock the Lizard down from 11 health instead of 9. Strange bug indeed!

I've seen this bug, too--it apparently happens at auto-attack locations during an invasion, and the auto-attack enemy takes on some characteristics of both the creature it is supposed to be and the invasion creatures.
The same type thing happened to me yesterday at Ketil. During the invasion, I went to attack a bonebreaker? and it said "A wadjet attacked you !" The wadjet had around 27/22 hp and I got 63xp for killing it.
